A variation on the end-to-end design moves away from the standard oval towards a more triangular plan. The station on the top part of the layout is long enough for a 3 or 4 coach HST or 225 set, although the inner station is only large enough for a DMU. Alternatively, this location could be used for a locomotive depot or freight loading facility. Two running lines provide opportunities to run high speed trains passing at speed. If more space is needed within the room, the area just below the station could be removed and hollowed out – alternatively it could be used for a town scene.
