Castlefield
8'x6'
Love industrial buildings, bridges, canals and watching the trains go by? This plan of the Castlefield area of Manchester aims to recreate the canal basin area close to the Museum of Science and Industry, with several railway bridges all crossing the canal at once. The lower section runs left to Trafford Park freight terminal, with another branch running through to Salford along low red brick viaducts. The upper section, including the spectacular girder bridge, is now used by Metrolink trams, but could equally be used for steam trains. Not for the faint hearted, given the different levels and scratchbuilding involved - but what a layout it would be!
