A final variation of the Loop and Branch idea simply has some sidings within the oval, meaning that locos must run all the way around the loop in order to return a train back to the terminus station. A passing loop on the adjoining section means that, with short trains and some care in the operation, two short trains can take it in turn to run from terminus to passing station and back.
