Ayr
6'x6'
Using Ayr station as a guideline, this simple plan is ideal for those wanting both a mainline and suburban railway. The short bay platforms mean that DMUs can be accommodated alongside the faster trains, and a storage loop on the upper part of the board means that a freight train can also be operating. Up to five trains can be sat on the layout at any one time, giving great scope for interesting operations. If desired, a loco shed could be added on the inner loop (middle right), with an access hole in the centre ensuring that everything is within reach.
