The station (far left) replicates the track plan of Fort William station, with the addition of a junction station closer to Glasgow. The long branch line means that three trains can operate at the same time, with two on the main running tracks and a third shuttling between the two stations. Although this plan offers a simpler layout than others of this size, there is more space for industrial and residential buildings in a suburban setting. A loco depot could be added on the inner loop if desired.
